Mask and the Somatic Actor - Workshop

Service Description

Based on the revolutionary work developed by Per Brahe, Broken Mirror Studio is thrilled to offer a mask work that is as transformational to artists as it is profound. This work has been taught at The Moscow Art Theatre, Yale, NYU, SUNY Purchase, and Michael Howard Studios in schools and theatres in Bali, Thailand, Berlin, Sydney, and Denmark. If you’ve been feeling stagnant, disconnected, overwhelmed, underwhelmed, stuck, spiritually itchy, or could simply use a good human condition shake up, take this workshop. Format of Day: Lecture: Consent, boundaries and self-advocacy Balinese Masks: Traditional, Non-Traditional, and Mask Making Relationship to Ego, Judgement, and Personality Distinguishing the Conscious and Subconscious Mind What is “Image” Out of the workshop and into the work Movement: Exploring the body through movement Gabrielle Roth’s 5 rhythms Element work Mask Work: Ensemble exploration 3 person explorations Conclusion: Reflection of experience Benefits of work Closing Ceremony NOTE: For the sake of financial sustainability, Broken Mirror is adapting its pay-what-you-decide model. 50% of the student roster (6 out of 12 people) will still be able to pay what they decide, the remaining 50% of the class will pay full price.
