Scene Study
About the Course

Join us for a 5-week scene study exploring text, process, and practice through the lens of the Non-Dominant Approach. Each class begins with a 30–40 minute warm-up introducing tools and techniques that carry directly into the work, followed by two hours of scenes, monologues, and recalls.

You’ll be asked to confront habits of control, challenged to let character be revealed instead of sculpted, and guided to integrate your own real-time human experience into the character's embodiment.
This is a course for artists, seasoned and amateur alike, seeking to build practice, find community, and discover a process that gives back instead of taking.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Engage with the fundamentals of the Non-Dominant Approach and apply them in and outside the classroom.
- Build a pre-performance prep that supports alignment, momentum, and presence.
- Integrate real-time experience (sensations, judgments, impulses) into the character’s humanity - safely, intentionally, and repeatably.
- Reflect objectively on your work, separating craft-based recall from self-judgment, and track cause & effect over prescription.
- Rehearse with partners using listening, consent, and boundary-honoring practices.
