Join us this Black History Month for an inspiring journey into the world of theater with "Beginners Playwriting from Black Broadway." This course offers the incredible opportunity to explore the essentials of playwriting, guided by the profound works of contemporary Black playwrights such as Aleshea Harris, Debbie Tucker Greene, Rachel Lynett, and more. Engage in stimulating discussions, delve into the art of scene writing, and embrace the joy of creative expression. This is more than just a class; it's a celebration of storytelling, community, and the enduring power of diverse narratives. Join us in this vibrant exploration of creativity and culture, and discover the impact you can make through the art of playwriting. All storytellers welcome :) Note: We are also offering an optional BIPOC affinity space, providing a supportive environment for those who identify as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color. These sessions take place Thursdays and have their own sign up option. Dates: Wed February 14th - Wed March 13th Time: 6:00pm-8:00pm Frequency: One Class per Week Location: Zoom Asynchronous work: All students will read one assigned contemporary Black play and write (at least) one scene from their own play.
